Helena Konanz Biography

August 15, 2021

We would like to congratulate Helena Konanz, who has been acclaimed as the Conservative candidate for the South Okanagan-West Kootenay. As many of you are aware, Helena was the candidate representing the Conservatives in this riding in the 2019 election and came short by a slim 796 votes to the incumbent, NDP MP Richard Cannings, in one of the closest campaigns in the country.

“I am honoured to represent the South Okanagan West Kootenay Conservatives in the next federal election. I am excited that we have a strong Leader in Erin O’Toole, and that  our volunteer base and support teams are still active and ready in case an election is called. We knocked on over 40,000 doors and met many of you in 2019, and with your help, we’ll finish off what we started in 2019”.

Helena has her undergraduate degree in Political Science from UCLA and her master’s degree from UBC Okanagan. She is a former world-ranked tennis player and coach and has won 7 Canadian national tennis championships. Helena previously worked for Nike, is a small business coach, and she and her husband Adam have operated a successful family business in the Okanagan for the past 25 years. From 2011-2018 she served as a Penticton City Councillor and as a director for the Regional District, Okanagan-Similkameen. She has volunteered throughout the community, including 10 years as a tennis coach at Penticton Secondary School, with the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce, the Soupateria, and Rotary Club. Helena and Adam have been married 28 years and have two grown children, Zakary and Zoe.

Helena plans to tour the riding and meet with constituents as soon as BC Health regulations allow it. Until then she will be holding regular Zoom meetings to meet with the people of this riding which we will let you know about as they are scheduled.  Anyone who would like to contact Helena can do so at [email protected],  message her on Facebook at Elect Helena Konanz, or call her at 250-809-2897.
